Loving Tokyo

Arrived early this morning in Tokyo...in snow but it quickly disappeared. After a quick nap and lunch we hit the streets, taking a long walk along the river to a really neat area called Asakusa. Touristy but lots of wonderful things to see (including temples) and lots of fun little shopping stalls, beautifully lit in the night.

The subway seems to work great. We've got our passes and have managed to work it out. Less English spoken here than we expected so it could be a challenge. But people seem very nice. And yes, it's expensive. In particular, coffee. It cost us about $6 each for a not very big cup. Our hotel room is in miniature, but it's all we need (at least it's not a pod!). Just have to plan our movements carefully so we don't keep bumping into each other or get stuck in a corner!

The Tokyo Skytree in the background (an odd effect in this shot):

The young girls get dressed up as geishas and get their pics taken - lovely.
